Hi! My name is Jaeya Bayani and I’m Quilt’s Operational Director. My core passion in life is uplifting underrepresented / independent artists in my community, which is why I believe in Quilt’s mission/vision so much.  I’m a junior Music Business major & Hip-Hop Studies at Columbia College Chicago. My artistic disciplines includes singing/songwriting (music available to stream on all major platforms) and dancing, specifically the funk style of popping. I grew up with a deep appreciation for Hip-Hop and its pillars, having gone to cyphers with my dad as young kid. I’m a proud Filipinx woman, and I aim to embed my culture/heritage into all my creative work.  Apart from Quilt, I’m also Operations Assistant for The Luna Company LLC, an umbrella music company for Traverse Music Group and Zion Agency. This position has fueled my determination to become a catalyst for change in the music industry. Uplifting other independent creatives in the Asian/Pacific Islander community is the driving purpose behind my role. I’ve had the honor of providing both in-person an remote support for a number of events, including: SXSW 2022 (Austin, TX), Pre-Grammy Awards Myxtape by Myx Global (Las Vegas, NV; 2022), Philippines Independence Day Festival 2022 at District 6, Asian Pacific Islander Stage at San Francisco Pride 2022. Additionally, I recently completed an intensive, three month internship for Trademark; for this opportunity, I helped assist with producing a number of corporate events. My ultimate creative goal is to run my own label or firm that caters to the protection and empowerment of women of color artists in the music industry.   FUN FACT: I was in a music video in high school for a song called “US” by Ruby Ibarra (feat. Rocky Rivera, Klassy, and Faith Santilla). It was shot at Balboa High School in SF, and exposed me to a dope community of Filipinx emcees — some of which I’ve had the privilege of working with.
