Power Youth Movement - October 28th 2023

On October 28th we had an amazing experience vending at the annual Power Youth Movement Conference where young entrepreneurs and community organizations are invited to uplift the community with resources and positivity. The event was held at City Arts and Leadership Academy in San Francisco, California.  We had members from our amazing team (Assata, Aminah, Cinthya and Lucy) setting up and networking for Quilt and we were so excited to meet more community organizations helping youth in different creative ways. Quilt aims to be in more community spaces as we continue to grow and it is so exciting to meet people and organizations who we feel are part of our growing communities.

Quilt on KCBS Radio - July 2nd 2023

We are always extremely excited to share our work with the world! Back in February we attended the Black Joy Parade as a vendor for the very first time. We are so grateful for that opportunity to show the Bay Area who we are. We were able to talk to so many different people, one of which happened to work for KCBS Radio. We connected with them and on Sunday July 2nd, our Executive Director, Assata Conley had the incredible opportunity to share Quilt Magazine’s mission with the Bay Area on KCBS Radio. Quilt has come a long way but there is still so much for us to do. We have an incredible amount of gratitude for the love we have received while working through everything since the beginning of Quilt. We would love to shout out KCBS for their time speaking about Quilt with Assata. Quilt Magazine believes that coming together to help each other is the absolute best way to make great things happen and we thank you all for sticking with us in our journey!

Black Joy Parade - February 26th 2023

The Black Joy Parade in Oakland, California was Quilt Magazine’s first event as a guest vendor! Our team was ecstatic about being able to participate in such an important event for Black businesses and organizations in the Bay Area. While planning for our third issue one of our goals was to attend our first event as a guest vendor, and I believe a big event like the Black Joy Parade was greater than expected. This event was an amazing opportunity for our team to network and enjoy a space with other Black entrepreneurs. We sold magazines and raised money with fun polaroids that our audience could enjoy and keep for themselves. While it was a great business opportunity for the team we also had a great time dancing and enjoying our vendor neighbors. We can’t wait for the next Black Joy Parade!
