Alyssa McDowell

Hello my name is Alyssa Mcdowell and I am the Quilt Magazine Executive Assistant. I'm from San Francisco but I currently live in Los Angeles where I study apparel design and production at Cal State University Northridge. I joined the quilt team because making art has always been my biggest passion in life and having a community to work and share that with is so important. My role in quilt as executive assistant mostly consists of collaborating with Assata on important projects she needs a helping hand with. Outside of Quilt, my career goal is to work as a costume designer for movies and television. I aspire to work in the film industry because clothing is the ultimate form of self expression and I love using clothes to bring a character to life. I also love the collaboration of the film industry because I love to work together with other people to make a fantastic project. That's why I love being on the quilt team, because we all work together to produce an incredible magazine. 

Fashion and clothing might be my first love, but it is not my only artistic interest. I also adore photography, particularly nature and street photography. I have also been getting into making collages, painting and crochet. I hope to continue expanding my artistic abilities throughout my life.
