Our Mission

We are Quilt Magazine, a Bay Area based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young artists from all over learn to navigate their careers with entrepreneurship. We give an initial hand  by creating a platform where they can present their work to greater audiences. It is important to teach young artists to create their own paths. This helps them understand the worth of their art and gives more flexibility to avoid sacrificing their creative work for a passionless job just to afford the rising costs of living. Creativity is a language we use to promote unity and community. Together we elevate the individual and bond over personal experience using artistic expression. Quilt is a space of empowerment to those who do not receive as much recognition as they deserve. Quilt Magazine expresses our views on the world through an artistic lens using collaboration to further the idea of community. Artists, especially young creatives have been disregarded for too long and we are here to cement our place in the greater community.

Creating Together

In the San Francisco Bay Area, we breathe artistic expression. When the pandemic hit in 2020 there was a vast amount of young people using their creative skills while not having a platform beyond their mutual peers to present their work.  I was lucky to have a chance to go to Chicago for school and during my initial two week quarantine I was reading More Than Enough by Elaine Welteroth who is also from the Bay Area.  In the book she discusses her journey moving into her dream job as a journalist for fashion magazines, which prompted me to think about how realistic it would be to create a magazine for all the artists in the Bay Area who need a platform for their art so they can share it with the world.  I contacted some of my artistic peers (mostly through social media) to see who would be committed to making this happen and I got such a positive response I knew from the beginning we would be successful in creating this positive new community.  Since our first launch in August of 2021, we have made incredible development in our team’s skills, the quality of the magazine, and overall our artist communities.  We are ecstatic to continue creating as we invite more and more artists along for this journey of Quilt Magazine.
